Moon Blessed
Moonblessed is a condition in which a newborn is blessed by the Moon goddess Creseident. This condition can be a benefit as well as a curse, because once you become moonblessed, your fate becomes tied into a prophecy inscribed onto a root of the World Tree. People may try to use you to accomplish their own vision of the future or try to kill you to make sure a prophecy never comes to fruition. Soon after the birth, a Sunscorched is usually born elsewhere in the world, they are chosen by the sun god Siolus and they have the same ties to fate. Usually, it is unknown which of the two are actually meant to complete the prophecy while the other is meant to oppose it.
The moment the midwife handed the squalling infant to her mother, they knew something was different. The baby's skin had a pale, almost ethereal glow, and her eyes, when they opened, shone with a dim white light. The village elders whispered amongst themselves, speculating about what it could mean. The most popular theory was that the Moon goddess had blessed the child, marking her as a chosen one.
As the child grew, it became increasingly clear that she was special. She was gifted with an almost supernatural grace and dexterity, and she seemed to have a connection to the night sky. She could hear whispers on the wind that no one else could, and she had dreams of impossible things.
But being Moonblessed was not without its dangers. Other villages and tribes would hear of the child's supposed blessing, and they would either seek to exploit her for their own ends or eliminate her as a potential threat. As the child grew into a young woman, she would have to learn to navigate the treacherous waters of politics and power if she was to survive.
And always, the prophecy loomed over her head, like a storm cloud waiting to break. She was tied to the fate of the world, and she knew that one day she would be called upon to play her part, for good or for ill.
