Tombqueen Shai Rhytyn

Tombqueen Shai Rhytyn

Shai Rhytyn was born in 6 AHM to Tombqueen Nefertiti V, a powerful and long-lived queen of the Rhytyn dynasty. Shai grew up in an era of relative stability, but the calm was shattered in 7 AHM when a deadly plague began to spread from the distant and isolated kingdom of Fogholt. The Fogholt Plague ravaged her people, and the Oakhand family of Fogholt, known for their dangerous magical experiments, was widely blamed for its origin. Although the Rhytyn royal family initially seemed untouched, the disease would later reach the desert.   Shai’s early adulthood was marked by the birth of her younger siblings Enki and Ibnatum, creating a close-knit family that would shape her life. Shai was deeply affected by the toll of the Fogholt Plague. In 32 AHM, at the age of 26, she contracted the plague herself. She was fortunate enough to survive, though the illness left lasting damage to her health. One of the more devastating effects for her lineage was her inability to bear children. This deeply influenced Shai, who would spend much of her later life doting on her nieces and nephews, nurturing the next generation of the Rhytyn family in the absence of children of her own. Nefertiti V passed on her title in her later life, though most of her time was kept inside their stronghold to avoid the sickly populace in the streets of Odell. Shai took over as ruling monarch of the Caluan Desert.   When her mother, Nefertiti V, retired from the throne at the venerable age of 107, Shai ascended to the position of Tombqueen in 68 AHM at the age of 62. Throughout the Shaidonic Period, Shai remained a key figure in the royal family, even as tragedy struck again when her niece Rudra succumbed to the Fogholt Plague in 57 AHM. Despite the loss, Shai remained resolute, supporting her siblings Enki and Ibnatum as they navigated the challenges of the plague-ridden kingdom. Her reign was quiet, more focused on maintaining the stability her mother had established than expanding her own power. She was seen as a steady ruler who understood the importance of family and legacy, particularly as she had no direct heirs.   Nefertiti V passed away in 69 AHM, leaving Shai to lead her people during the final years of her life. Though Shai’s reign was not marked by major conquests or monumental achievements, she provided a sense of continuity and calm during a time of great uncertainty and loss.   Shai's death in 99 AHM at the age of 94 marked the end of her peaceful reign. With no children of her own, the throne passed to her younger brother, Enki, who, at the age of 91, took on the burden of leadership after his sister’s long and steady rule.
