Twilight Sepulchre
Devotees of the Matron of Dreams
The Twilight Sepulchre is a clandestine and enigmatic order dedicated to Twilight, the Matron of Dreams, revered as the goddess of Night and Dreams. She is the guardian of the Weave, an ethereal realm that connects the godly and mortal planes through the medium of dreams and nightmares. Twilight’s followers, often Dark Aelfes but also including other races who seek her guidance, view the night not as a time of rest, but as a sacred passageway into the mysteries of the dream world. The Sepulchre’s worship centers around understanding and navigating the Weave, as well as interpreting the divine messages embedded within dreams.
The Twilight Sepulchre holds that every dream is a thread in the vast, infinite web spun by Twilight’s spectral spiders, the Dreamweavers. These celestial arachnids tirelessly weave the fabric of mortal visions, ensuring that the dreams sent by gods reach their intended recipients. The Sepulchre believes that the Weave is not only a tool for divine communication but also a place of immense power, where reality and the ethereal intertwine. The followers of Twilight see the night sky, with its misty aurora of drifting dreams, as a direct manifestation of their goddess’s work, each glowing thread a glimpse into the Weave.
Twilight is also revered for her neutrality; she does not favor good over evil, light over dark. Instead, she serves as a conduit, allowing all gods to communicate with their followers through the Weave. For this reason, the Twilight Sepulchre does not distinguish between dreams and nightmares, viewing both as essential parts of the cosmic balance. The followers often engage in rituals that involve inducing controlled dreams or visions to receive guidance, and they are experts in dream interpretation, using their knowledge to unravel the messages of the gods.
