August 16th, Session 44

General Summary

After dispatching the security constructs, the party decided to soothe their burns with a short rest. Before the rest could be completed, the party was ambushed by another construct. Sirocco was caught out in the open and attempted to intimidate the construct with the power of incredible violence. This proved immediately effective as it turned out the unexpected visitor was simply a harmless production construct. This fact was belabored for about 15 minutes, with Kev’sa and Sirocco letting their paranoia get the better of them both. They reluctantly agreed not to deconstruct SAMWELL, in exchange for information on these Silstran Ruins. SAMWELL told the party about the ancient flying city of Silstra, and the legend of Aetheria. SAMWELL’s knowledge was incomplete, but it told us about a war between the dragon riders of Aetheria and the “Primordial of Infestation”, also known as Lethantis. During the battle, the riders used powerful magic to encase their world away in a rocky shell. Why? Well, SAMWELL surely didn’t know, but it had something to do with Lethantis. That shell was massive enough to encase the entire world of Aetheria, and it swallowed up the city of Silstra. And SAMWELL had no history of massive planar travel. This would suggest that Aetheria is located underneath the crust of the planet of Galnorii. Aetheria has been thousands of miles underneath our feet for as long as Galnorii has existed. Gurdis hid underneath a table the entire time SAMWELL nervously spewed data. SAMWELL also identified the “Shard of Arcane Weave” as the most interesting item inside this complex, and also that in-expertly excavating it would result in the destruction of everything within a two mile radius. SAMWELL mentioned a “High Leader'' in the “Conference Room'', so the party moved on to find them”   There was no High Leader in the Conference Room. Not unless you count a desiccated skeleton as a High Leader. Eager to follow the trail of clues, Gurdis cast Speak with Dead on the skeleton. The skeleton didn’t seem to have anything to say, but it did animate and attack the party. After a near lethal Thunderwave, the party took down this “False Lich” and looted a Fulminating Treatise and a Ring of Minor Healing. The party was badly wounded and low on spells so they retreated back to the ship, leaving the Immovable Rod in the opening to the Silstra Ruins. Once back on board the Salacious Saltwater Sea Sprinter, the party noticed a ship on the Horizon. A ship with a flag with a Skull and Wooden Peglegs. Captain Hurlbert Clifton would likely be at the entrance to the Silstran Ruins by morning the next day. Sirocco and Gurdis settled down for a night of rest with Kev’hsa on lookout. The next morning they would need to rush to the entrance, retrieve the Rod, and hope that would be enough to keep Matelo’tage out of the ruins for now.
