Since the event known as the Spell Shattering much has been lost. Few if any remember the Old Words of power and the ways of Magic has been severely diminished.

Or so it's generally believed, based on what meager scraps of information actually survived that great calamity now almost 3000 years ago, and the remnants left scattered across the entirety of Gam'Woral.

From the massive constructs of war whose ruins lies broken among the blasted sands of the Scoured Fields, to the encroaching presence of the Plane of Elemental Air in the Singing Range, and the now legendary tools of the unknown champions of the Forgotten Age. The signs are many and most scholars feel they all point to one simple fact: much was lost in the Shattering, what keeps them debating is whether that loss should be seen as good or ill.
