Light Sensitivity
The character’s eyes are always fully dilated, making him extremely sensitive to bright light.
Type: Major negative.
Effect: When in bright light, such as direct sunlight, the character takes a -6 penalty on all Perception checks and any other checks that rely on vision to perform effectively. This includes attack rolls. The character also takes 1d4 points of nonlethal damage per round of exposure.
In areas of normal light, the penalty is reduced to -3, and the nonlethal damage to 1d2 points per round.
The character can function normally in dim light. This mutation does not confer any extra ability to see in darkness, but also does not inflict any penalties for seeing in darkness beyond those all characters who cannot see in darkness receive.
There is no difference between artificial and natural light when determining these penalties.
