SC2020 – Finger code

A succinct way of describing finger code is advanced Morse code done by tapping one’s fingers against each other or on a surface. It allows for far quicker transferal of information, as it has many more unique symbols and long and short. Its range is a lot shorter, since the receiver has to be able to see the hand. However, given that people do tend to fiddle with their hands, it does allow quick unseen communication in plain view, as a few tabs can convey a sentence or two. Over an extended period of time, it can also allow people at the same location to carry on an extended conversation or give an extensive report, without ever coming closer than within viewing distance of one another. There are several version of the code. The spelling version: This version is perhaps the most reminiscent of Morse code, because it intent to spell out the message exactly. However, it would be more correct to call this version hand semaphore. It has a unique finger position/hand configuration for each letter and is the most basic form of the code structure. This is typically the first learned, and the one switched to when an exact spelling or number needs to be communicated. The invisible short hand: This system was developed to subtly allow fast communication. It includes signs for common words and even whole phrases. It also has redundancies, that allow a user to scratch their face or other similar action for particular important phrases. This was specially meant for fast invisible communication during meetings, where everyone is paying attention and when time is short. The code system is used by The Black Hand, who uses it to communicate at diplomatic gatherings and sometimes even within meetings as many of them typically hold positions that make it impossible for them to meet face to face or that should even make them enemies.
