Imperial Ministry of Economy
Imperial Ministry of Economy is in fact a combination of 'typical' treasure overseers and economy ministry, since it oversees both taxation and spending of the money, and the general economy situation of the Imperium. It can also be considered what in another world would be a ministry of infrastructure and transport, making it a rather expansive and powerful ministry, one that gives its owner a great deal of power.
The sheer importance of this ministry and the great power it has over Imperium of Karadia as a whole leads to a situation in which only the most trusted candidates can became Ministers of Economy. To the point that many of them are trusted sons of brothers of Grand Emperors, that are supposed to oversee work of several department heads that had somehow 'localized' power that does no threaten the Imperium as a whole.
Structure
Its headquarters lie in Falon-nir, as all Ministries do. It is, however, internally divided into several departaments, each of them nearing the size of other ministries due to sheer required paperwork to ensure it works properly. This departments are:
- Department of Treasury - First department that generally works as accounting for Imperium as a whole, while also supposed to make sure that various treasures of the Imperium - be it rare metals and materials, alchemical ingredients and artifacts. They have to be stored properly, awaiting for the moment they will be useful.
- Department of Economy - Second department, that generally works by spending part of money gained from taxes or imperial organizations (some, like Imperial Adventurers Guild have regular money surplus) on subsiding central economical projects of local vassal states that are deemed beneficial to Imperium as a whole. For example expanding metalworking industry that can then be used to outfit local imperial forces, or exploring magical anomalies and so on. Most of it is paid back in stock or, over time, like typical loans, making it surprisingly useful.
- Department of Infrastructure - Third department, that works by focusing on expanding infrastructure (be it harbours and strategic roads) by paying for its building and maintenance if it is needed by Imperium but not by local countries. In newer times it is most helpful in expanding imperial railroads.
Every department has its own local representation in each of the imperial provinces. It is heavily decentralized, with every province supposed to more or less finance itself, with central structures limited to overseeing and organizing some money transfers from safe and rich provinces to unsafe and poor (to ensure locals can be subsided properly).
