STATIC 20: Peace in the Bastion
General Summary
Wherein the Blinkertons unite the factions of the Bastion in hopeful harmony
Back to the Lizardfolk
Having dispatched the wayward Zosfari sect of the Bastion of Wolves' Lizardfolk, The Interdimensional Blinkerton Detective Agency began their journey back to the Lizardfolk compound. That journey was interrupted by a pair of gun-toting elvish brothers demanding a toll to travel through their controlled territory. This rapidly devolved into a wild west style showdown and shoot-out. The Brothers Um'ka'zad did not survive this encounter, gunned down by the superior gunfighting skills of Hypatia and the Blinkertons. Trying to retrieve the brothers' firearms after the conflict proved these items to be booby-trapped. Damn! Further journeying prompted an encounter with a bandit group calling themselves The Brackish Ones. Since Dhib’ma’qulm is a tough environment to thrive in, these bandits decided to try and relieve our heroes of their possessions and their lives. Clearly, the Blinkertons were not amenable to that, so another fight broke out. Complicating this fight was the fact that these bandits seemed to have control over a young brackish dragon. Eventually, though, the Blinkertons emerged victorious and their journey continued. A nice break from constant conflict came in the form of Froggi--the alchemical skunk son of the forest wizard Four Eggs--who hung around with our heroes for a bit. After noshing on a magic mushroom offered by the group, Froggi found himself greatly enlarged. Froggi is now an alchemical SkunkHulk, and very pleased to be so. He thanked our detectives for this newfound growth and wished them well. This reprieve from fighting was not to last, however, as some moss creatures emerged from the Bastion and attacked. Thankfully, these creatures were dispatched and our heroes finally arrived back at the Lizardfolk compound.Resolution in the Bastion
With the return of the Blinkertons and the destruction of the Zosfari, the scheme hatched by Kragstil the Finder and Teskyr to find common ground between the Ratfolk and the Lizardfolk has come to fruition. Despite some initial misgivings and tensions between the two communities, an accord was reached during--what else--a feast (feast!) at the Dusk Warrens. Having seemingly completed whatever needed to be done in the Bastion of Wolves, the Blinkertons were then Displaced. Thankfully, this time is was back to New Carydam and to No Future. There, there were met by a goblin identifying himself as Scruzz who informed them that he had a solid investment plan for them to consider. And That's Where We Left It
We'll see how New Carydam treats our returning gumshoes during our next session.Varied & Sundry Details
- After the fight with the Brackish Ones, their summoned dragon shrunk down to a small, slimy figurine. This was pocketed by the Blinkertons. Who knows what might this portend?
- The Peace Summit featured not only a feast (feast!) but also a compelling magical exchange with Hypatia and other scholarly colleagues and a chicken-boxing match in which Tridge and Fritz Himmelswander participated. All in the name of unity!
- As the Blinkies traveled through the void during their Displacement, they--very briefly--saw two of their members in the slipstream. It seems that Sharkbait and Corinna Himmelswander might be traveling elsewhere. To where, one wonders?
