The Fading Fire
The Fading Fire is an assassin's guild and hospice operating in Sour's Corridor in Myrgraf.
Structure
There are two distinct chapters within The Fading Fire.
The Dwindling Candle form the caregiving part of the Fire. Chandlers maintain the hospice wards, administering palliativecare to individuals at the end of their life cycles. There are some that do this work out of a deep reverence for the natural processes of life and death, while others view their vocation as a necessary component of the chaotic environment of Myrgraf.
The Burning Skull devotes its energies to assassination and sanctioned violence. Organizations contract the Skulls to elimiate rival entities and individuals, usually resulting in a "Black Contract" for assassination services. The assassins of the Skull are highly skilled and view themselves as an elegant, professional way to solve business and interpersonal disputes.
The heads of each chapter--the Chief Chandler and the Crowned Skull--report to an overall head of The Fading Fire, called the Sconce.
The Sconce is appointed by agreement among the Chandlers and the Skulls. Due to internal discord, the position of Sconce is vacant as of 1080AC.
Public Agenda
Outwardly, The Fading Fire is a meditation on the processes of death--both natural and otherwise.
Inwardly, however, there are those that believe that the Fire should not entertain contracts from other organizations and instead assert its own will over Sour's Corridor and Myrgraf at large.
