Gnomes

The gnomes of Geada are a diminutive people, smaller even than many halflings, reaching a height of between 28-32 inches. They have pointed ears and elf-like features, but often with a prematurely wizened look to human eyes. Their eyes are often bright jewel tones, and their hair goes white early in life, however many gnomes chose to color their hair with a wide variety of hues.

Small Population, Wide Reach

Gnomes are the rarest people regularly encountered in the known world, almost always living alone among other people and cultures. However, only in the largest communities might one find enough gnomes to form a small social circle or clan. Strangely, despite there being so few of them around, it seems that there is at least one gnome liviing somewhere in every Human, Halfling, Elf, or Dwarf settlement of any size - sometimes as a counselor or servant to an important personage. Their lives are longer than humans, but with so few examples it is hard to generalize just how long they can live, though lifespans of at least 150 years years seem likely.

Positive Reputation

Because of their rarity, many humans and halflings ascribe significance to their encounters with them. Gnomes are thought of as healers, craftspeople, and posessors of old wisdom. Encountering one is said to bring good luck.

Mysterious Origins

Though presumably there must be larger gnome communities somewhere, their possible locations are unknown. It is known that gnomes have their own language, however they rarely speak it openly and never teach it to others. Many believe that the gnomes may have had a large population in the Adastrican Empire before it was destroyed.
