Anvilwrought Raptors

Written by starzomskiwrites

Utility

The Anvilwrought Raptors are used as short-distance messengers by nations across Geloriel. They are primarily created by the dwarves of Kurn Darum, but others outside of the dwarven nation have learned Moradin's wisdom and, therefore, the ability to create the wondrous creatures.

Manufacturing

Anvilwrought Raptors require rather simple ingredients: they merely require a body formed of bronze, and the secret spell to give them life. This leads to those with the ability to create them being able to create many of them rather frequently, allowing for their now-common use across Geloriel.

Social Impact

The social impact of Anvilwrought Raptors cannot be understated. They allow long messages to be shared across great distances far quicker than a letter, especially when one doesn't have access to the Sending spell.
Access & Availability
The acquisition of Anvilwrought Raptors is rather simple, as one can be bought from a smith with suitable knowledge for a moderate price, though the ability to create them is a closely-guarded secret among disciples of Moradin. Their use throughout Geloriel is common, especially among nobility, as Darun ambassadors often bring Anvilwrought Raptors as gifts to the local nobility when they visit for business or political reasons.
Discovery
The creation process of the first Anvilwrought Raptors were given to the highest priests of Moradin by the god himself in the early Third Age. Jealous of the beauty that the goddess Melora brought into the world during the First Age, he wished to use his craftsmanship skills to bring similar beauty into the world of Geloriel. Those that worshipped Moradin were given the creation process in flashes of inspiration, and soon the first Anvilwrought Raptors were created. When created, they are magically imbued with the ability to record and mimic the voices of others, allowing them to be incredibly effective messengers.
