Giantomaton

Basic Information

Anatomy

Each Giantomaton has one head, two arms, and two legs. They were commonly crafted of different plates made of metal or stone overtop of a wooden core, with spaces in-between plates exposing veins of magic and light running through the constructs. They were powered by a Shard of Sardior in their chest like a heart, infused with powerful magics. Some of these hearts were known to awaken strange sentience and wills of their own, though many did not.

Ecology and Habitats

Giantomatons existed wherever there were Giants, as they were created by them to serve as manual laborers as well as soldiers and defenders. This includes many of Geloriel's mountain ranges, hilly plains, and deep forests. Wherever Giant ruins have been found, so too have deactivated bodies of Giantomatons, all shattered or missing their hearts.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Giantomatons need not eat or drink.

Behaviour

Many giantomatons had very little personality, acting only upon the will of their Giant masters. Some giantomatons were known to awaken sentience, however, and they displayed behaviors of rebellion against their creators, as well as incredible knowledge. Few of these sentient giantomatons were recorded, and none are known to be alive today. It is said that these sentient giantomatons afflicted by the Curse of Flesh became the first Giantforged wielders of arcane magic.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Giantomatons were used as the laborers of the Giant empire. They would dig the mining tunnels, harvest the resources, and build the vast marvels of the Giants that would one day fall to ruin. Many of the great cities that have been uncovered throughout Geloriel were built by the labor of these Giantomatons.
