Em'aq

The Em’aq people are a young species that slowly evolved over the course of thousands of years in the southern reaches of Venubia. They know not why they were given sentience, but have built great stone pyramids and cities in the Emrysian Jungle. Over time, they have come to value wisdom more than anything, and often travel the world in search of new ideas and experiences to deepen their own wisdom. They have no gods, save for the ancestors whose deeds have lived on; namely Sun Zhĭhăo, who united the warring clans and created the basis of their culture.
When an Em'aq comes of age, they must partake in the Tōngguò Yíshì, or Rite of Passage. They are given a list of things to do or learn by the Sav'ma leaders, and then head into the world. When they’ve achieved their goals, they return to Baronia. If they have grown wise, they are given the title of Sav’ma. The new Sav’ma is then tasked with finding and counseling a leader in the world. This does not only apply to kings and emperors, but any that the Sav'ma deems worthy - this includes revolutionaries, pirates, and potentially evil people if the Sav'ma aligns with them.
