History

The original three members of the Emerald Order first met on the 15th of Atma 3e531 in Davenport-on-the-Sea, in the Grinning Goblin Tavern. Darach-Meatilit, Lod Gavec, and Quill Burnheart met by chance while they were resting from each of their long journeys. They were robbed and knocked out with flash powder and a sleeping gas. Once they awoke, Quill and the others accepted a job from the mysterious le Comte de Flanoir (Villamere) to retrieve his four precious gemstones that were stolen.   Le Comte de Flanoir concentrated over a spell and had a vision of the gems. They were traveling quickly toward Redford, stolen away by the Black Rider (Ginny), a local figure of legend. They set off immediately (well, Quill went to search for a bush to urinate in), borrowing horses from the mysterious Count.   Deep within the Queen's Wood, they encountered a group of Torvalan bandits who sought to rob them of their horses and possessions. The group spared one of them, a man called Tybalt, after hearing his story of a plague that was sweeping Xanderhold. The Torvalan Empire was burning large swathes of the city and moving the citizens of the poorer districts into camps. Gavec immediately grew worried for his parents and softened to the man, allowing him to leave. As night crept in, the group found a seemingly abandoned camp. As they neared, they heard the sobbing of a dwarven woman named Myrtle Stonefist. Her child had ran away after her brother was stabbed. Gavec entered the adjacent tent to find him in a pool of blood. Darach and Quill managed to find the child, a young goblin named Tomás, hiding in a hollow log. They reunited the pair and buried Myrtle's brother. Once morning arrived, Tybalt appeared with the horses and was allowed to keep one to return home. The five of them continued their journey for Redford.   Once they arrived, Myrtle and Tomás bid them farewell. Having no real leads, Darach walked to the stables and began conversing with the horses, trying to gain more information. They knew that the Black Rider rode in on a black steed. The horses spoke of their masters fondly, and Darach learned three names: Leirgo, Yusuf, and Ginny.   As the group moved towards the city gates, a strange portal opened in the sky and a thin man wearing a mask fell out. He was lost and confused, unsure where or who exactly he was. He remembered the name Es'tiel Datoris. A priestess of Leiana was called to aid him, and Es'tiel chose to stay with the group and learn what he could. They learned that tax men had been coming around more frequently, squeezing the poor for all of their worth but ignoring the thriving businesses. The group split up, Darach and Quill acquiring a map from the Twilight Ram and searching the Prodiguer district while Gavec and Es'tiel searched the Azoka district.   Gavec sought out the Genessi Pegasus Postal Service to send a letter to his family, but did not have the funds to transport it such a distance in enemy territory. The postmaster, Sledge Stonefist (of no relation to Myrtle) revealed that his daughter, Tamara, was sickly and being held at the temple of Ra'avos. If they could help heal her, he would cut the price in half. The pair made their way to the temple, where Es'tiel reawakened to his divine spirit and healing powers. Doctor Lod Gavec gave Tamara a poultice and salve for her fevers. Gavec was able to mail his letter to Xanderhold. Es'tiel then visited the temple of Leiana, where he met the high priestess, Persephone Olyphant, a snow elf. He went into a meditative trance and remembered more of his past.     Quill and Darach sought an establishment known as the Raven's Nest, an upscale bar in the Prodiguer district with red tile roof, black stone walls, and metal arched windows with intricate stained glass designs. They learned from the bouncer that a handsome red tiefling known as Leirgo Bel'amon frequented the location. If they could pay the entrance fee, they would have lifetime access, but they currently had no funds. Dejected, Darach sought out a grand library nearby, hoping to learn more of their people. They found reference to a warforged to the west, in the Venubian Desert. Dejected, the pair returned to the Azoka district and bumped into Yusuf, a dwarf with short blonde hair and the owner of Limited Exports, a shipping company. They learned that a thief known as Ginny had stolen from him two months prior, and he warned them to avoid the Dormir district at night, where she tended to do business.   Reuniting at the Twilight Ram, the group decided to spend the night and search the Dormir district in the morning.
