Hino Naozane (火野直実 Hino Naozane)

Hino Naozane was a Japanese-born alumnus of Teyvat Academy. He was the head of the noble Hino family in Japan, and the father of famous veterinarian, Hino Thoma, and Hino Klee. He married famous German-born journalist, Alice Neuner, who he had met during his studies at Teyvat Academy.

Education at Teyvat Academy
While at Teyvat Academy, Naozane was in the Inazuma Dorm and Class. While he was not on the Student Council himself, nor a part of the Inazuma dorm's varsity teams, he was close friends with those who were and often went to support his friends. Naozane was also one of the few people in his dorm who treated Yukimura Saori kindly - as the Hino family had no prior connections to the Yukimura family even before they fell and therefore Naozane had no personal feelings invested in hating Saori. However, he knew that some of his friends had personal history with her family, and therefore never made an attempt to invite her to join him and his friends during breaks and mealtimes. He was in the same class as Kamisato Takeshi, Nishihara Kanaha, Shimamura Kayo, Fujimori Jun'ichi, Nakahara Akari, Kaedehara Kazuki, Yukimura Saori, and was in the same year as Alice Neuner - a Mondstadt Class student. Naozane was best friends with Shimamura Kayo, Kamisato Takeshi, Kaedehara Kazuki, Nishihara Kanaha, and Alice Neuner. Naozane met Alice during their third year at school, when they were thirteen. While most of their peers were alienated by Alice's tendency to set things on fire or make them blow up, Naozane wasn't bothered by it, and even helped her with making sure that it was safer and would cause less injuries to Alice. By the time they were fourteen, they had started dating, and Naozane had introduced Alice to his group of friends from the Inazuma Dorm - and also to Yukimura Saori. Naozane graduated in July 2007 alongside Kayo, Kanaha, Saori, Jun'ichi, Akari, Kazuki, and Alice. Shortly after graduating, he attended Takeshi and Kayo's wedding and was one of Takeshi's groomsmen - although the best man position was given to Kazuki. A few weeks after Takeshi and Kayo's wedding, Naozane proposed to Alice and they subsequently became engaged, and Alice made plans to move to Japan.Marriage, Kazuki's Wedding, and the birth of Thoma
In December 2007, he and Alice got married. Although it was only around four months after getting engaged, they were able to get married so soon because they both only wished for a simple wedding, and used the Hino Estate as the venue. Naozane had Kazuki as his best man, and included Takeshi as one of his groomsmen. Two months later, Naozane attended Kazuki's wedding in February 2008. Kazuki chose to have two best men for his wedding, and had named both Naozane and Takeshi. Naozane greeted Saori when she showed up for the wedding, having been invited by Kazuki, and Naozane and Alice provided Saori with friendly and familiar faces and comfort as most of the other guests at the wedding didn't want her there. Naozane and Alice also took Saori home when she chose not to go to the reception after the ceremony. Just under a year later, in January 2009, Alice gave birth to her and Naozane's first child, a son they called Thoma.Yukimura Kuri's death
In 2013, Saori's mother, Yukimura Kuri, died. While Naozane and Alice didn't know Kuri very well, they both knew Saori would would be grieving her death and therefore both gave Saori their support when they learnt of Kuri's death. Alongside Kazuki and Kanaha, they spent the day of Kuri's funeral with Saori. Soon after, Saori disappeared from Japanese noble society and all attempts made by Naozane and Alice to find her turned up fruitless.The Fujimori Family and Yukiko's Birth
Naozane didn't hear the rumours of Saori being the concubine of Fujimori Jun'ichi, who Naozane had attended school with, nor of the birth of Saori's daughter, Yukiko, until March 2018 when Jun'ichi went around to all the noble families asking for them not to tell the Kamisato family about the Fujimori family's bankruptcy or about Yukiko's illegitimacy as they had a very tenuous marriage arrangement with the Kamisato family now. Naozane was surprised by the news but agreed not to say anything to Takeshi, despite his close friendship with Takeshi. Like Kazuki, Naozane tried to get into contact with Saori after learning of Yukiko's birth - as did Alice. But they were both also unsuccessful.Thoma starting at Teyvat Academy and Klee's birth
In September 2020, Thoma started at Teyvat Academy. Thoma chose to stay in the dorms at the school, and Naozane and Alice stayed back at the Hino Estate in Japan. The summer of Thoma's first year, in June 2021, Thoma, Naozane, and Alice moved to Mackenrodt, Germany, and a month later in July 2021, Alice gave birth to her and Naozane's second child, a daughter they called Klee.Takeshi's Death
In April 2027, Takeshi and Kayo passed away from an illness, leaving the family in the hands of his young son, Ayato. Naozane attended the funeral with Alice, and his old friends Kazuki and Kanaha. Although Naozane insisted on going to the funeral for Takeshi and Kayo, he was actually also very unwell himself. He managed to get through the funeral, but was confined to his bed for a few weeks following.Death
Only a few months after the death of his friend, Takeshi, Naozane himself passed away in July 2027 of unknown causes. It is known that he had the same illness that had killed his school-friend, Kamisato Takeshi. However, unlike Takeshi, Naozane survived the illness and had recovered by June 2027, but also died not long after his recovery. While it is unconfirmed, it is speculated that Naozane died as a result of a monster attack similar to the one that wiped out the Yukimura family. After his death, the position of family head returned to his father due to Thoma only being eighteen, who said that he would remain the family head until Thoma got married. While the rumours concerning how Naozane died widely circulated Japanese noble society, most of the noble families feared believing them - as believing them meant having to come to terms with the fact that what happened to the Yukimura family wasn't because of a curse on Saori and instead was caused by outside factors. Meaning that it was potentially something that could happen to any of them.
