16th Session

General Summary

Adrie and Aster arrive in Waterdeep at nightfall, and rent a room at the Chalice in the Student Quarter. The following day, the pay a visit to Esteleth, Professor of Enchantment at Naquilan University. Esteleth is Lucius’ boss, and as the wizard stayed behind in Triboar to nurse a cold, his companions deliver a message that he is on his way back. Esteleth, a very young-looking and apparently noble high elf is closeted with Darien, a disheveled-looking wood elf who looks out of place here. Apparently, he has come to inquire about Lucius’ job, but Esteleth seems to have other work available that is more suited to him, and the new arrivals, such as delivering provisions to the orcs who have risen up against the treaty that ended the Goblin Wars a decade ago. He makes the offer to Aster and Adrie, as well as to Brandon, who shows up soon thereafter. He seems to have substantial knowledge about all the party members’ backgrounds and some activities in Saltmarsh. He also sports some nice white gloves. Eventually, the party accepts his offer, in party – they will deliver some non-lethal supplies to the orcs, and take up their work with the Triboar Trading Company later. They will also investigate the town of Claymore, which has been besieged by the orcs, and report to Esteleth on the conditions there. A contact of his, Elias Amando, is located somewhere beyond Claymore, and has substantial knowledge about the corruption of the land. Having sealed the deal, the party awaits supplies, which arrive at the inn on the following day. They then journey to Neverwinter, about a day away, and find a room at the Wandering Stag Inn. The next morning, led by Brandon, they search the harbor for news of Predicant Lorenz, a Harper religious official, who, according to Esteleth, should be traveling to Claymore soon. He seems like a desirable traveling companion to provide cover for transporting contraband. Brandon quickly learns that he arrived from overseas a few days ago, and is staying at the local Courtyard of Fire.
