Aelius Evander

Growing up my father was a town guard that took bribes from the local crime guild to look the other way so when I grew up I ended up working for them too as hired muscle. Eventually I ended up as the bodyguard and head of security for the leader. 
I'm running to Gethen because I've been framed for the boss' murder. One minute I'm going to clean and sharpen a blade, the next the boss is dead at my feet and I can't remember a thing. It's probably true that our rivals used some sort of magic on me but I have no proof. If I play my cards right I can build something a network of allies before my old colleagues catch up to me.
The week before the murder I had to supervise the branding and banishment of a thief in the gambling house. If I can catch their ship maybe we can work together in Gethen. I'll need allies when I get there and this is a starting point.
(Aelius is cagey about his past wiling to divulge generic details such as being a mercenary and bodyguard but hesitant to talk about who he worked for.)
