Bartholomew Brocksby
Brocksby is the town notary in Saltmarsh. He is quite aged, near-sighted, and slow-moving. His establishment appears, to the outsider, to be quite unorganized, but Brocksby seems to have some sort of system which allows him to find the documents he needs, evetually.
Brocksby was approached by *Manfred and a few of his newfound companions regarding some property she claimed to possess in town. The property was owned by her aunt, *Idonia Bjorkvist. Brocksby had never heard of her, despite being a long-time resident, but after some searching, he located a deed that showed she inherited the property of *Trevisian Helmont, her husband. Unfortunately, as Brocksby informed the visitors, the Helmont property, located about four miles up the coast, was abandoned, and reputedly haunted.
