Archdruid Rank/Title in Getninia | World Anvil

Archdruid

An Archdruid is a wizened druid who has become attuned to their Circle of Magic's raw natural power. In developed druidic-traditions such as Ëlhyaea, an archdruid is also someone who has been elected by a group of druids. Those referred to as Archdruids are commonly in Felora, where there are both large swathes of untamed wilderness for a druid to inhabit and grow their connection to the nature around them, and the Ëlhyaean faith's most venerable sites and organisations.

Qualifications

There are no set qualifications in order to be an Archdruid, and it is not a title one applies for, potentially pays the application fee, and receives. Archdruids have had to have been druids for an immense time, most often hundreds of years, even for human Archdruids since natural magic and/or it's use seems to have life-extending effects.

Requirements

No universal requirements exist. Only the practical ability and skill necessary for druidic casting serve to set the standard for "bestowment" of the Archrduid title, although various druidic circles and nature-related faiths may have additional requirements.

Appointment

In Ëlhyaean Druid Circles, as well as in certain temples and orders, eligible members elect from eligible candidates (mostly other druids in both cases) an Archdruid, who in most cases serves for life. During the Feloran Empire, the Emperor of Felora would appoint an Archdruid of the Empire, who would disseminate their experiences and guidances to Felorans in the name of the Imperial Court. On rare occasions, nature deities have been known to bestow the title.

Duties

Archdruids protect their domains and the natural order. For many, this means no duty to civilisation or people, and they will seldom interact with others. Archdruids have a duty to future generations of druids to preserve and pass on their knowledge and experiences, and many will take on 3-5 Druids to mentor directly.
