Cyrus Rex Gaius Vitellius
Gaius Vitelius Aurelius, second of his name, and third of his dynasty is the current regnant Cyrus Rex of Cyrenica. Having ruled the country since the mysterious death of his predecessor Sextana Victoria Aurelia, ER 396. His reign has been tumultuous with the Aarumite threat growing more and more significant as the Terruk expanded into the last of the Aarumite held lands outside the Nabari Plateau, and as religious revival movements have swept Aarum. This struggle has seen Vitelius II expand the military, and its political influence in order to build up a force capable of repulsing any border incursions. Many in the military have pressured to use this revitalized military to launch an invasion of the Nabari Plateau to retake provinces lost ot eh Aarumites, something that has been stifled, at great political cost, by the Vitelius II. Vitelius has also engaged in significant public works, primarily in expanding the great underground cities of the dwarves, as well as massively developing the aqueduct network, to create water networks bridging the interior of Cyrenica and the River Ilos.
In his personal life, Vitelius II was married to a Volger noblewoman, and has three children, the eldest of which, Carola Tarsia Aurelia has begun to serve as a military commander against the Aarumites in preparation for her ascension to the throne. He is publically a follower of the Cult of Silus, however, unlike his immediate predecessor, and indeed the founder of his dynasty, and namesake, he is not especially religious, nor particularly active in spreading the influence of the cult. This relatively lax attitude found in the leader has allowed other religious orders in Cyrenica to regain some of the influence lost by the founders of the Aurelian Dynasty.
Most unusually for a prominent noble, Vitelius II is a relatively quiet and reserved person, rarely raising his voice, not frequently visiting public locations, nor attending religious festivals. He is often seen in the rather extensive library of Cyrene, and indeed has taken a special interest in the operations of the library, increasingly funding the library, and indeed, many strange automata and other mechanisms have been seen moved there on the orders of the Cyrus Rex. Those who have witnessed such activities notice them occurring near the ancient wing of magical scholarship moreso than anywhere else.
