Session III: The Battle of Lëra Report
General Summary
49 Flirel, 429 PE
Bea joined the party, having arrived in the encampment, their stealth skills keeping them safe on the path between Yusuf and Hosni's encampments. Riven and Hosni both desired more recon of the area, as Riven suspected a trap given Hesior's experience. Bea saw that around 45 minutes since Hesior scouting, that the townspeople trickled out of the two largest and strongest looking buildings - the old Council Hall and the under-construction temple. The party then decides to enter the town in plain view, to walk into whatever ambush may be waiting - they can handle it. Captain Hosni sends his stealthiest scout with them, to report back if they need help and when the town is pacified. 30 minutes later, the party crosses the moat into the town, and at first, the coast is clear. When the party reached where the road turns into a street, the ambush was made clear. Hesior sent a scout ahead, and an arrow popped it as soon as it was formed. Three Sacred Knights emerged from the towns buildings, and the party proceeded to make quick work of the three of them, plus nine more of their order. The remaining one from the temple surrendered the town hall, and cooperated once it was clear the party had no intentions of harm to the townspeople. The residents themselves were distrustful of the party, having heard of the horrors of the Dotharan's scorched earth policy. Riven dismisses their concerns as "Sorenian propaganda" (DM's note: damn, should've made you roll deception there, Riven), however as they're meeting up with Captain Hosni's newly arrived company, a small argument breaks out between Maela & some of Hosni's company. Hosni resolves the situation while the party looks on, and surprises Riven by setting up in the temple, having made a big deal of wanting to set up shop in the meeting house.50 Flirel, 429 PE
At sunrise, the party, along with three of Hosni's company, ride back to Yusuf's encampment. Hosni hopes to have the countryside firmly under their control by the end of the week, however reinforcements from Yusuf will be needed to hold the town and patrol the area. It is likely the party will swing back through on their way to Soren.Missions/Quests Completed
The town of Lera has been successfully captured, and Hosni's company has moved into the incomplete temple, so as to not antagonize the town further.

Maela Surkesh is the town's eldest and former leader of the local council before the Sovereign's new retainer was appointed the head. He's a bit salty about this but is still a tried and true Feloran. Believes in the Feloran Empire, and is trying to believe in the Sovereignty but he does not like how it has been attacking old Imperial institutions.
