Invention of the All-Mechanical Clock

Scientific achievement

1180

Volgier silver mine supervisor Martin Alker invents the verge escapement mechanism, allowing for clocks to be placed in the work sites of deep mines, and regulate the shifts of workers. Telling time was difficult within the mines of the Volgier Kingdom, given the lack of access to sunlight or water for a sundial or water clock.
