University of Melnor establishes era

The present era's designation was instigated by the University of Melnor shortly after being granted the role of State Archivist by the Dotharan Alliance, in 233 PE. The University successfully lobbied the other successor states to accept the new numbering. 427 years ago was settled on as the final definitive date that the Feloran Empire ceased to exist. Other proposals, such as the date of the Sinking of Aethel’a (Antiokus), for the final major loss in the North, or the more controversial date of the foundation of the Dotharan Alliance, were rejected as too difficult of a sell for the other successor states. As such, the current year is 427 PE.
