Airship
Airships are an old technology that has mostly been left to the very wealthy, as they are expensive, prone to breaking easily, and less likely to turn the tide of a battle when War Wizards are a thing. Instead, they are mostly used for transportation of nobles and the extremely wealthy on pleasure cruises, sightseeing, or survey missions. Long gone are the days of massive ships in the skies raining fire down on cities and one another.
Travel on an Airship is highly expensive. Typically, and airship will charge between 15-30 Silver Pieces per person, per mile traveled. Then cargo is calculated at 10 Silver for every 100 lbs of cargo, per mile. Some people choose to work for their passage, and this can be a wonderful way of seeing the world, but those people are expected to spend 12 hours of their day working on the ship and be on call for watches during the night.
Power Generation
Anti-Gravity turbine. A steam generator spins a turbine that moves a gear shaft. The gear shaft is connected to a copper and nycanthium alloy drum that holds lodestones. As the gear shaft spins, gears inside the drum spin the lodestones in counter directs to each other, creating a topical anti-gravity effect along all copper-nycanthium alloy parts. The ship is lines in an alloy skeleton, and as the anti-grav field moves along the alloy, it lifts the ship in to the air. The more power applied via the steam turbine, the faster the lodestones spin and the high the ship can rise. There is a limit to how high an airship can fly, based on its weight and power. Typically, the smaller a vessel, being lighter, can fly much higher and faster. However, smaller ships cannot hold as much fuel for its engine, or have smaller engines, thus reducing their potential. The square root law begins to take over at certain heights.
Propulsion
Focused turbine exhaust from anti-grav engines.
Weapons & Armament
The largest airships can hold up to 4 ballista or carronades for self defense. While small, these are usually more than effective enough. The crew will also have a compliment of hand held and personal weaponry about them.
Armor and defense
Airships usually cannot hold armor and carry cargo at the same time. Most opt for no armor and instead rely on speed to defend themselves. However, some guard ships will remove any cargo capacity and armor the hull instead. This is very rare.
Communication Tools & Systems
Airships communicate like other ships, via signal flags, lights and bells.
Hangars & docked vessels
Airships are flat hulled vessels, and therefore not able to land at conventional docks. Specialty docks must be built for these ships.
