Anthropos gigantas: Giants (Ann-throw-pose yee-gann-tas)

If the stereotypical Canadian could grow to the size of their kindness, you would get a giant - theoretically. These gentlemen and ladies can build you a house single-handedly in a day and invite you for a proper tea at the end. You just have to find them in the mountains first. Originating between 300,000 and 140,000 PATP, these friends descended from Homo Neaderthalensis and a good amount of magic. They like to keep to themselves mostly - quite shy, you understand - but if you earn their trust, you have a loyal friend for life. The giants of the Carpathians in particular are ruled by a witch who keeps them stuck in fear - Morgana, the "foster mother" of Pak Z.J. "Hyun-Ae" Kumiega, heir to the Karanyan throne.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Twice or more the height of humans, they also have twice or more the lifespan of Anthropos empyrea maxima. They possess larger foreheads than most humanoids as well as larger brains. They move slowly, as their development is slower, but as they are born with a high amount of empathy, this also makes them more considerate.

Genetics and Reproduction

Extremely similar to normal human production, but it happens in a mountain, because the mountains are sacred to the giants.

Growth Rate & Stages

age 0-20 normal human growth rate;
age 20-800 half the growth rate of fairies, so more like an wise aged human in disposition;
age 800-1600 the time of life when giants are most active and lively; this is also when they procreate;
age 1600-2000 old age

Ecology and Habitats

Moutainous regions of the northern hemisphere of Gi'ardi.

Dietary Needs and Habits

certain minerals (the equivalent of eating iron ore straight in order to get your iron content) and larger vegetation. As they are isolated and wish to remain that way, rocks make up the bulk of their diet and large plants are secondary. Meat is eaten only on seasonal holidays, with great ceremony. Those giants that get greedy - the "feed me your livestock/maidens every year or else" type of greedy - are the ones you are most likely to hear about, but they are in the minority.
