Empyreum (Em-peer-ee-um)

Along with Flittrilite, this is another essential element in the atmosphere of Gi'ardi that ensures the survival and accessibility of magic. Named by the Empyreans after themselves pretty much the minute they discovered it, its discovery is held up by them as one of the proofs that they are superior to humans in development. Otherwise, it is simply a thing that exists that is as necessary as oxygen or carbon here, regardless of whether you know it's there or not. Whether they are the same element - possibly one having ions of the other - is up for debate, but only by the most knowledgeable humanoids. Empyreans have notably been studying this for thousands of years and so insist that the two elements are different, while humans have been studying it for...not that long.
