Kachatar (Kah-chah-tarr)
Based on the cultures of Pakistan, Kashmir, Jammu, the Pradesh regions, Tibet, and Kerala (minorly), this kingdom is the equivalent of the Delhi sultanate, and it took all the ancient Hellesian inventions that Alexander the Alright I Guess left as his legacy. Thus, they were able to start building mills for fabric and grain production earlier than most cultures. The primary language spoken here is Punjabi. While it has varied in size over the centuries, there has always been a place called "Kachatar" ruled by some dynasty or other. Thus, they are both culturally and technically advanced, and can claim such deeds as the first telegraph and the first locomotive in the world.
Culture
Main religion is Buddhism, much influence from Islam and Yeshuanism. Innovation and invention are considered a way to honor a higher power. There is a caste system, but you can socially climb if you are super smart, have the right connections, or marry well.

Demography and Population
Punjabi is one of the top language spoken, but only by about 45% of the population. Kashmiri comes next at about 40%. But most people speak a native tongue before they learn to speak these more "official" languages. Sanskrit has symbolic status, as the region has a fair number of Hindu sites.
Sikhism and Islam, liberally flavored with Buddhism, are the main religions. Kachatar is very open to new ideas if it means that culture and technology can flourish because of it.

Religion
Although at present, the region gets a high number of pilgrims visiting for the sole purpose of visiting Hindu sights, the majority of the people living in the area follow Buddhism, Sikhism, and Islam. It's this liberalism - this openness to other religions - that makes it an attractive option for trading for the Western part of the Continent.
Foreign Relations
Kachatar is a place that knows its worth. With the mountains in the background, they know that not many will dare to invade their lands, and they can be choosier about who they have trade relations with. Their only real issue came when the Byzantines cut through their lands to steal trade secrets for tea and silk from Huanjin. As part of the great trading expeditions of the Morandis, they became most acquainted with Karanya, Cilitza, and the other groups on the journey with them. Stephonia is currently a major force for them to reckon with, as is the Ghorid dynasty of West Altaia.
Agriculture & Industry
Cotton and cereal grains are the top agricultural exports, making up about 33% of the total export industry for Kachatar. That cotton gets woven into fabric and, for approximately half of that fabric, sewn into clothing. Another 32% of the exports are from sheep products - both meat and wool. The rest is industry like the actual mill technology used to make the products. By having control over both the production and the weaving of the cotton and wool, Kachatar has a good grasp on the cloth industry.
Trade & Transport
Top export destinations are: Karanya, Huanjin, Italy, and Cilitza.
