The Intercontinental War

Hanssia against Gutonia (lead by de Fleury) mostly, as Hanssia's confederacy wished for freedom of trade and independence. It also involved an attempted invasion of Ayiti, trying to make it give up its autonomy, but this was proven fraught with trouble as Ayiti is all the way across the sea; and there was also an attempt to fight the Haudenosaunee by giving the Algonquians guns, while the Zewhalish Welsh and Icelandic speaking colonies of Hyperborea fought for their independence at the same time they fought over whether they should be allowed to own other human beings. Karanya ended up declaring neutrality, much to the horror of any refugee trying to escape to there, and Gutonia's government instituted a draft that mandated that men below a certain social class enlist in the army. They figured if they kept the populace at war, the morale would go up, and there would be less focus on how corrupt the government is.

The Conflict

Prelude

As the timeline needed a parallel to the Napoleonic Wars and the wars of the 1, this is the result. Basically, de Fleury wanted the territories in Hanssia and Provence to be less autonomous, plus he was mad about Quebec being itself. Quebec, meanwhile, was having its own issues because it had the Haudenosaunee and the Algonquian peoples fighting each other with the Haudenosaunee backed by Zewhal and the Algonquians backed by Gutonia.

Outcome

Rabbi Mordecai, father of Esther and Artemesia or "Temi", has two other children - sons. He was spared from battle only by poor health, but when the next war came, he was forced to send his teen son into battle and he never heard from him again. His second son, upon reaching his age of majority, although he was supposed to take on the role of rabbi in his community (like his big brother was supposed to do), Rabbi Mordecai instead sent him away, to Prague, where he'd be safe from the Directoire. Neither Esther nor Artemesia have seen their brother for over a decade.

Aftermath

De Fleury's ally, Yulia (aka the Snow Queen) sucked life from the landscape instead of sucking it out of herself in manipulating the tides of battle. There are battle plains that are completely desolate at present. The one thing that does grow here? A specific species of opium poppies that the rich and the addicted of the greater supercontinent crave.
