The Name Day of Adulthood is one of the most important dates for a human of the land. This tradition only apply to humans and not elves and dwarves, since those two specie age differently. The Name Day of Adulthood happens when a person reaches age twenty, as the society of humans agree age twenty is the age when a person becomes mature enough and enters adulthood.

History

The history of the tradition dates back to the time before the realms united. A King of the Central Realm died in a tragic accident and left his throne to his only son who was merely at the age of fifteen. The new king did his best to keep the realm in peace and fairness, however those who lust for power took the opportunity and they became the most powerful people in the realm. The court became more and more corrupt, and food became scarce when the winter came. The whole nation suffered and one-third of the population died at the beginning of winter. The young king died to sickness and his older cousin became king. After the specie of humans nearly went extinct in the middle realm due to foolish decisions by a non-matured kid, the society agreed that no one under age twenty can receive inheritance. So a steward will hold the inheritance for the heir until the heir reaches age 20.

Execution

In the ritual of the Name Day of Adulthood, the subject is given the blessing of his or her family. If he or her is apart of a noble house, then one would be given the blessing of the whole house. Then, the lord or lady before will present he or her with a cup of wine, signifying the beginning of his or her adulthood. The presenting of wine also occurs with families of none noble houses.w It occurs to some houses to give the person new clothes, signifying a new start. His or her parents or guardians sometimes present he or her a gift, however it is completely optional.

The only component is a cup for the presenting of the wine.

Participants

The person's family and friends usually attend this ceremony. The person's parents or guardian takes part through the shot ceremony.

The ceremony takes place directly on the person's 20th name day.
