The Hammer
For thousands of years, this peninsula was the adopted home of our race. We know it well, we respect it. So will you, in time. The great beasts of the savannahs, the harshness of the land, the great cities our ancestors built, all deserving of respect. Even the Humans, who invaded our land and made it their own. They deserve respect for even after their empire abandoned them, they refused to surrender. They kept fighting, just like we did. And then they fought with us, against those who would have taken our freedom once agan. We made the Covenant with these Humans. You can hate them as much as you want, but you need to respect them too.
Geography
The Hammer is a very large peninsula on the southern edge of the known world, bordered by harsh deserts to the south and the World Sea in other directions. The land is dominated by a single mountain range which provides many rivers and also acts as a natural barrier against invaders. It is surrounded by several larger islands - many of them sites of great cities. The Hammer is dotted with hundreds of Hhrar and Human cities, a few date back to the time of the ancient Karakian Empire. The Covenant, a federation of said cities is the dominant power in the region and extends along the coastline westwards. The cities of the peninsula are mostly located on the coastline and are well connected via a system of well maintained roads.
Fauna & Flora
As the peninsula is mostly covered in dry grasslands, there are many great beasts that graze and those that prey. Chief among the grazing animals is the mighty elephant, the belodon, the horse and camel. The jungles on the east coast are home to vicious predators, tigers and crocodiles and flame ants, the latter is only kept in check by the great anteater, an animal once worshipped by primitive Hhrars of a long gone era (and the Hhrar themselves, who consider their poisonus little bodies a delicacy). The grasslands are home to no particularly interesting plants, but the jungles hide large carnivorous plants, such as the cannonflower and the impaler tree.
Natural Resources
Despite millennia of empires mining them, the mountain ranges of the peninsula still contain vast amounts of precious metals. Recently, with the discovery of the power of living crystals, dozens of mines were opened to extract the valuable commodity. Other than it's mineral wealth, the Hammer is home to small but fertile river banks for agriculture and large wild beasts prized for their skin and bones.
