Flayleaf
Flayleaf is a leafy red vegetable that grows in hilly regions all over Syvat, including the Kiol Downs of Gol-Kasha.
Flayleaf is a tap-rooted biennial plant that forms bulbs of overlapping red leaves, growing up to 1.5–2m in size. The outer leaves of the flayleaf can be safely harvested without harming the plant, dried, and then smoked to produce a euphoric effect. The inner leaves, however, are covered in thin spines which can cause small paper-thin cuts if touched, which delivers a heightened version of the chemicals found within the outer leaves.
It is unclear where the name "flayleaf" comes from: some believe it is due to the nature of harvesting the outer "skin" of the plant whilst leaving the core alone, others to the dangerous properties of the interior bulb. The Aomeni believe that the flayleaf loses its potency once the bulb from which it was harvested dies, regardless of how long ago its leaves were removed.
