Aper (Undying Pig)

Buffallo-sized beasts that lurk in jungles and forestry. They're known especially for terrorizing villages of sapients that dared to set up shop in their territory.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The most prominent features of this boar is the two large prominent tusks made of ivory that protrude from their mouths. These massive weapons are kept sharp and ready for killing. They have a thick and tough mane along their back that can stand straight up whenever they feel antagonized.

Biological Traits

If you cause an aper to bleed in the slightest, it and its friends will be thrown into a barbaric state of rage in which they hit harder and ignore any wounds they might have. There have even been tales of pigs that continued to rampage despite being decapitated.

Genetics and Reproduction

Apers reproduce slowly, but effectively. The survival rate for their piglets rounds out to 90% of the time with the protection and guidance of their parents. A female aper remains pregnant for five months before she gives birth to her children, in which the father will become extremely territorial and defensive over their safety-even if it's just their own kind passing by.

Ecology and Habitats

A preference for plants over their heads and a sturdy durability has led these hogs to prefer dense undergrowth of jungles, forests, and even swamps. They refuse to share their territory with any other species and will viciously maul any attempts at settlement.

Dietary Needs and Habits

While they prefer plants and berries, they are omnivorous creatures that are capable of digesting anything they come across. Meat has a tendency to bring out their more violent side, however.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Their tusks provide a wealthy source of ivory on top of being a worthy trophy upon a hunter's wall.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Along the equator tends to be their points of interest.

Average Intelligence

Despite their relations to the highly intelligent pig, Apers are as dumb as minotaurs. An easy way of escaping the fate of being mauled to death, is to scatter, confuse the pig, and force it to focus its attention on a single target while the others beat it to death.
