Cervi (Cruel Deer)
Be wary of these monsters, for they are one of the few that kill for sport.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Appearing as a normal stag, these monsters have the hindquarters and wings of a bird.
Biological Traits
Illusion magic allows for them to hide their wings and hind quarters and appear as if they are an average deer. Wings allow them to take flight and fly for an average period of time before they will begin to tire.
Ecology and Habitats
Cervi prefer mountainous areas where they can make their homes in small outcroppings of the mountain. They live in large flocks among each other and are highly social creatures. If they can't find a place to make their home, they'll force the environment to comply. It is very easy to identify which mountain is inhabited by Cervi by the corpses that typically lay beneath it.
Dietary Needs and Habits
These deer only really need plants and water to thrive. However, they're known to hunt despite this. Small groups will break off from the flock and search the mountains for any unfortunate souls that happen to be in plain sight. They will pluck the prey from the ground and bring them back to their lair. It is there that they will proceed to torment, toy with, and keep them captive until the creature perishes. From there, they nudge the corpse off the side of the mountain to the ground below. It is there that nearby predators are essentially given an easy meal.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The antlers of a Cervi are an extremely powerful substitute for average materials among illusion-based potions and magic.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Western hemisphere, more common among the northern territories in mountainous regions.
Average Intelligence
Capable of learning and being trained, however, their unruly and sadistic nature makes them ineffective companions.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Excellent hearing and sight. They have a particular relation with illusion magic that can hide their hind legs and wings to make them appear as a normal stag.
