Ka'lessi Member

Yes I paid the yearly fee, what do you think I want to take the risk with my personal property, if I didn't pay I would pay in lost property
— Lord Shino
So probably the oldest profession, well bar maybe one, a profession of Thief is well known across Godai, but in Crane Imperium Cities its taken to another level, where its organised, with a progression within the guild and training avaiable for those who need it. A member of the Ka'lessi should be at home with the highborn, and in the streets with the rabble. They are taken at a young age, and trained to be the best they can be. From Pickpockets to cat burglars, they all fall under the eyes of the Lords of the Ka'lessi.

Training

The Guild takes children from members, but also will take likely children from all walks of life, be that the bastard child of a noble, to a street orphan from the hovels of the Imperial CIty. They have no preference of race, sex or anything else, but being quick of mind and body is critical. The training starts like any other profession in school learning language, numbers and general knowledge, Ka'lessi members need to be able to blend in with the public in any environment be that a nobles dance to the inn down the street, So a lot of training is needed in acting the part, and that starts at a young age, and anyone who doesn't show the need progress is cut, and set aside to go back to their old live, or to try and make it themselves.   Once those basic lessons are learnt and perfected, the prospects are started on the skills to thief, starting with simple pick pocket, via distraction and quick of hands, though the the more athletic skills of scaling buildings and entering properties without alerting the members of the household. Once they learn the skills they need they go from Prospects to Members via a trial of what they learnt, they given an item they have to steal and can do so in any method they feel is suitable. This item could be from a Nobles house, to just a minor item from a shop, but all tests are taken as seriously as the others and sometimes compl

Progression with Guild

Trainee, the lowest of the low, those children just taken in and taught the schooling they are needed to progress. Prospect, Those Trainee's that show promise, allow to move onto the actual skills needed to make a life in thievery. Member, Those that pass the tests, and allow to join the guild and given the protection that brings. Up to this point if caught you on your own. Senior Member, Those members who shown skill in training and mentoring the Prospects and given responsiblity and leadership over a group of members. Shadow, A member of the council of Ka'lessi and at this level you not expected to actual take part in the actual day to day business of the guild. Leader, The finest of the guild, the best of the best, and the member who is seen by the nobles to pay for protection if they looking for it, obviously the law would love to get the hands on the Leader of Ka'lessi but he is both guarded and protected from such attempts.

Relationship with the Law

While Thievery is illegal in the Imperium, the Ka'lessi in many ways protects those who can afford it from the worst of it, so like many places corruption and money keeps most members safe from jail or worst. But sometimes either members of the Ka'lessi are caught in a situation which is untendable and will suffer the wraith of the law like any common criminal.
