Stoneskin

A unusual and somewhat rare condition of Godai, "Stoneskin" recently had a treatment discover for it, so the people of Godai don't have to go though the slow and painful death caused by the condition, but either so there are marks left on the person who contracts it.

Transmission & Vectors

Stoneskin is an natural earth elemental plane bacterial, carried by living stone creatures like gargoyles and others from the Earth plane, most creatures of the plane are immune to the affects but obviously those in the material plane aren't so lucky, and physical contact with a creature carrying the bacteria, risks a chance of transmission, so originally it will come from a creature from the Plane of Earth, but can then be transfer between material plane hosts.

Causes

It starts as small dark spots on the skin, as the bacteria starts infecting the skin, it if caught early always been removed via standard cleaning and washing, before the bacteria gets embedded into the skin of the host.

Symptoms

Small Dark spots on the skin which gradually increases in size, the skin turns to a stone like texture of dark greys and blacks. As the area affect grows it removes flexibility of the skin on the body, and slowly the person will loose use of arms, or legs where the skin been turn totally to stone like material. They do not die, the body beneath the skin is still totally health and normal and only the skin is affected, so its a slow and painful way to die, as you affectly end up starving to death as your facial skin turns to stone, you still able to breath either if somewhat laboured due to the stone affecting your chest making it harder to take large breaths. In the end the body inside the stone outshell will die and rott not a nice ending for anyone.

Treatment

If caught early simple washing in hot water with soap will remove the bacteria from the skin and removing the risk to the infected person. But if not caught early there is now a salve created by the Wardens, those that watch and protect the planar rifts in the nature, rather than the master gates that are protected by the best of the planer armies. The salve can both remove the bacteria from the skin and return flexibility to the skin, and give time the body will replace the stoneskin with that of more natural skin, but either then there will be vains of dark grey and black marble effect within the skin.
