Godforsaken

Diverion is a hollow mega-Earth planet, 20,000 miles in diameter, where the metagods built their kingdoms and filled them with their most ardent followers after their deaths. The Good outer-world deities became embroiled in a destructive war against the Evil inner-world deities and their battles ravaged the entire planet. Then, suddenly, all of them disappeared without explanation, and the inner and outer world were sealed off from one another. Their followers did their best to carry on, but over centuries and generations, their purity faded.   20 years ago, the magical seals started failing and the war started anew, though on a much smaller scale. The breaking seals also unleashed a kind of Mythic Magic that accumulated in people who performed mythic deeds, granting them a small portion of the divine power that the gods had left behind. This created a sort of “gold rush” of people seeking danger and challenges to prove themselves to the world and gain fame and magical power with it.   The world is littered with wondrous features of a lost era. Impossible geographic features dot the landscape. Diverion is full of inscrutable constructs like giant stone rings hanging in the air, metal platforms on pillars, hundred-foot walls in the middle of nowhere, gem globes on top of mountains.
