The Scorpion Brooch
And here on your right, we see the deep metallic blues, greens, and golds of an ancient brooch in the form of a scorpion; the crest of a long deceased line of Elves who once dared to raise a hand against the Empire. It is said these magnificently crafted items, only a few of which are known to still exist, were once symbols of significant status, worn proudly by the "Bourjalaq Rydair" or "Knights of the Scorpion" in the common tongue. They served as clasps to keep the Knights' heavy cloaks in place, though are thought to have been too heavy to be practical in combat, relegating them to a more ornamental or ceremonial function. The brooches are believed to have been forged around year 15 of the First Age, specially designed by artisan Dwarven craftsmen of the House Pervak at The Scorpion's personal request.
History
Long ago, during the Imperial rule of the First Age, a line of the sun-kissed Sharizaad Elves rose up against their moon-skinned Bahtzaad brethren seeking to take the throne of the Empire by force. At their head was a fierce and fiery warrior woman of incredible strength, beauty, and grace. It was said that her military strategies were both elegant and deadly, earning her the moniker "The Scorpion." But cunning and craft were not enough to overtake the Emperor, and so The Scorpion, and her followers, were put the sword.
