Aeryn Darvengian was born to the powerful House Darvengian in Magnimar, a city renowned for its towering architecture and political intrigue. He is the only son of Lord Gavran Darvengian and Lady Illyana Darvengian, two individuals who were highly esteemed within the community for their influence and wealth. Raised amidst opulence and affluence, Aeryn was afforded every privilege the city had to offer. From an early age, however, Aeryn displayed a peculiar interest in the arcane and the forbidden. He was fascinated by stories of other realms, especially the Abyss and its denizens, and was known to spend hours locked in the family's extensive library, poring over old tomes and manuscripts that whispered of powers beyond mortal comprehension.
As Aeryn grew older, this fascination evolved into a dangerous obsession. He became enamored with the demon lord Socothbenoth, the Sibilant Beast whose realm was a nightmarish landscape of perverse pleasures and unspeakable horrors. His commitment was such that he turned his back on his family's traditional worship of Abadar, the god of cities, wealth, and law.
The defining moment of Aeryn's life occurred in 4703 AR when his obsession led him to commit a horrific act of betrayal. Utilizing a paralytic poison imported from the distant city of Kaer Maga, he paralyzed his entire family during a banquet. One by one, he offered them as sacrifices to Socothbenoth, hoping to gain the demon lord's favor and ascend to unimaginable heights of power. The horrific scene of his slain family was discovered by a horrified servant, who alerted the city's authorities.
Following a manhunt throughout the city and its surroundings, Aeryn was captured by the Magnimarian authorities, his depravity laid bare for all the city to see. He was cast into the city's most notorious dungeon, the Hells, his name now synonymous with treachery and madness. This single act not only sealed his personal fate but also shattered House Darvengian's reputation, a blow from which they would struggle to recover.
