Episode 30 - Dungeon and Dragon

General Summary

After deciding that Proteus Marin would be laid to rest with the elven soldiers, the Guardians of Golarion slept for the night. The next morning, they heard loud whispers outside the tent. Shalelu, the elven ranger and member of the Celwynvian Guard, was arguing with a member of the Lantern Bearers regarding the apparent "special treatment" the Guardians were receiving.
Once the conversation ended, Shalelu delivered the wand of cure light wounds and potion of cure moderate wounds that was purchased the night before from the elven merchant Con'dis. She also relayed two other pieces of information. One, the drow were now actively searching out the Guardians for what they had done in the short time they had been in Celwynvian. Two, a couple of humans were being escorted from Crying Leaf and were asking to see the Guardians.
Shen Stroheim arrived with his guide and friend of Kwava, a mystical man known as Rooker Shango . Once they were in private, Shen told them that Master Barretto believed that the Pathfinder Society had been corrupted, specifically Venture-Captain Shevala Iorae. She had set up Shen to lead the discblade mission when he was brand new to the Society. She had sent Barretto on the fact-finding mission that resulted in him losing his tongue. She also provided the wayfinders that the group noticed had been used for scrying in the past.
Barretto wanted to obtain materials that could be used to combat her, should it become necessary. That mission brought Shen back to the Devil's Elbow to obtain samples that Khaylin Cirdanas left behind in his holding pit. Barretto also needed something that led Shen back to the Guardians.
Shen asked to speak with the leader the camp. He had Pathfinder paperwork mentioning Leo'ran Swiftstorm, former ruler of Crying Leaf. Leoran had been a lone wolf, fighting dark elves by himself with his spectral gryphon named Cloudclaw. He had magical items, one of which was a longsword with a green dragonshard embedded in it. Barretto wanted the dragonshard. He believed the saddle of Cloudclaw would be with the body, all claimed by the dragon Myrkara. The dragon was killed, but few have accessed the creature’s lair. Shen wanted to retrieve Leoran’s remains. If the Guardians could recover Cloudclaw, it will bolster the elven people’s morale.
Fjord had been sent with a small group (including Kaerishiel ) to return to the Graveyard. A supply run, nothing more.
The Guardians made their way from the camp to the Festering Crater, located in the southern part of Celwynvian. After avoiding detection, they arrived at the lake just as the might green dragon Razorhorn landed with something in its claw. His meal was the black-scaled kobold the groups had seen before. The party managed to come very close to killing the dragon, with Buck scoring a critical hit and Ella unleashing her rage. It tried to fly away, but Ella managed to snipe it out of the sky and the creature's body fell into the forest.
On the kobold's body, the group discovered an odd ring of protection +1. Rooker detected it, but Hugo Powerfist discovered that it had been forged in the void.
The group navigated down a narrow pathway to a cave behind a waterfall. Shen, Reh and Hugo combined their arcane knowledge to open the magical portal located within the cave. Once they passed through the threshold, solved a riddle asked by a guardian, and navigated a poison-filled pool, they found their way down to a chamber filled with gold.
Once inside the chamber, a shimmering, transparent magical barrier closed the entrance to the room. They discovered that not only were the piles of gold simply illusions, but four magical scimitars floated out of the piles... followed by a massive mechanical scorpion.
