Jal Son of Midu

Jal was born in a different continent, his parents and brothers died when he was six to a plague. He was taken by an old wizard who was a friend of his family. Over the next years he was an apprentice to the old wizard, he viewed him as part teacher part father. The wizard was constantly traveling, in search of magical ingredients, or other hidden purposes many times unknown to Jal. He taught him magic, and Jal helped him with manual jobs, and mainly with recovering ingredients from monsters the wizard hunted. When Jal was 13 they arrived to Varisia, travelling in search of something the old wizard sought after for many years, finally finding a clue to its whereabouts. They traveled across the continent for a year when their searches lead them to the ruins of Kar-Maga. They searched deep into one of the ruins, there they were attacked by a demonic cult, the old wizard dispatched of scores of them before he was defeated. Jal was taken hostage, most likely to be used for sacrifice or to be converted forcefully in time. He spend 2 hellish years in their captivity, years full of torture and mayhem, degradation and heinous sights. His only "friends" there were the roaches in his cell, and years later when he first gained a familiar, roach was his choice. In truth, he felt connected to them, unrelenting survivors like himself. He escaped by the skin of his teeth, killing his guard, and jumping into an underground river deep in the ruins to complete his escape. He was travelling alone for six months, hungry most of the time, half crazed, before reaching Sandpoint. He was passing through, not planning to stop, when he was stopped by Ameiko Kaijitsu, the Rusty Dragon owner, whom curiosity made her start a conversation with him. Following this conversation she asked\offered him to stay with her, offering him food and bed for simple tasks. He spent the next years there, over time he begun working with one of the hunters in town, following him, aiding with the traps using simple illusions and later dealing with the meat and working on the skins, giving most of his earnings to Ameiko. He is 22 now, living a quite life.
