Sandpoint Cathedral

Largest and most impressive building in Sandpoint, the cathedral was going to be inaugurated on the Fall Equinox at the Swallowtail Festival of 4707 AR, but a goblin's raid disturbed the celebrations. The building was therefore consecrated on the day after with a modest indoor ceremony.
The cathedral was built to replace a chapel that was destroyed by a fire five years earlier in a series of events that have become known as the Late Unpleasantness. When initially established, the Sandpoint Chapel served as a center of worship for six deities; individual shrines were dedicated to Desna, Abadar, Sarenrae, Shelyn, Gozreh, and Erastil. Care of the site fell to a priest by the name of Ezakien Tobyn and his acolytes. However, when the chapel burned in 4702 AR, Father Tobyn lost his life in the blaze.
Determined to see Sandpoint recover from the late unpleasantness, mayor Kendra Deverin began a movement to rebuild and improve upon the Chapel. The new building has been established on the same site as the old, and has been greatly improved upon through the efforts of Sandpoint's citizens and the initiative of the town's mayor. After five years, the result is an impressive structure boasting shrines devoted to the same six deities venerated in the previous building.

Characters with Knowledge (Religion) +5 or Knowledge (History) +6 know that the location that bears the Sandpoint Cathedral served as a holy place well before any building was built here. A series of seven stones present at the center of the cathedral courtyard has long held importance to the followers of Desna, who believe they represent the seven tower's of their goddess's palace. Varisian tribes used to gather around the stones on special days of trade, law keeping and ritual well before Sandpoint was established, and even back then the stones were said to predate history.

Father Abstalar Zanthus
When the Sandpoint chapel burnt to the ground in 4702 AR, killing the town's priest, Ezakien Tobyn, his position in the town was filled by his top acolyte, Abstalar Zantus. Though Father Zantus is himself a cleric of Desna, his role as high-priest requires him to be open to other faiths, and he is more than willing and open to assist followers of other gods with spiritual matters

The gnome oracle Kikleback Tocx has been drawn to the cathedral since the day its construction started some years ago. Maybe its the ancient stone circle at the center of the monument that calls him, or maybe something deeper in himself or deeper in the long lost history of this sacred location.
