Born and raised in Otari, Toraldur met the description of 'strapping lad' for the duration of his youth as he was always taller and more athletic than the other boys of similar age. Upon reaching adulthood you'd probably find a picture of him if you looked up 'strapping young man' in the Encyclopedia Absolomia.
From a very early age, Toraldur had a very clearly defined view of right and wrong, frequently stepping in, physically or verbally when he saw situations he perceived as unjust or unfair. This won him few friends, but he was always looked upon favourably by the adults of the town who saw him as a well-mannered, well-behaved youth, which led to him, upon reaching maturity, joining the Otari Guard in a part-time capacity at the age of 16.
He probably would have joined full-time, if not for his fondness (obsession?) with the town's new arrival, Tiefling Wrin Sivinxi, proprietor of Wrin's Wonders. Within days of her arrival, Toraldur would spend as much time as possible, perusing her stock, chatting, or just hanging around the exotic newcomer, earning him the nickname, Tief-Sheep, an insult he lets ride off him like water off a duck's back.
Whilst Toraldur's crush (love?) for Wrin Sivinxi is as clear to most as the difference between night and day, Wrin is totally oblivious to the fact, and allows him to assist in the curio shop when she has errands to run as well as being quite content to have him hang around on the days he isn't on guard duty, which only adds fuel to Toraldur's fire.

His commanding officer within the Guard, Lardus Longsaddle, seeing great potential in Toraldur, has frequently tried to persuade him to go full-time, even offering a promotion to sargeant, in an attempt to break the ensorcellment that Wrin seems to hold over the young Private, but to date his offers have fallen on stony ground.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Athletic, toned and perfectly proportioned. Toraldur has a definite swoon effect on many ladies within the town. He cuts a dashing figure in his guardsman green and whites, his muscular physique still clear despite the loose cut of the uniform. He is seen running in the foothills outside the town each morning as part of his daily constitutional regime and despite his Ulfen heritage, eats a plant based diet that would be considered an anathema to most Ulfens.

Body Features

Although shorter than both his mother, Birna (6'3") and father, Tistvar (6'4"), most would think of Toraldur as being taller, due to his posture, confidence and physique. He is well muscled and considered particularly strong, without carrying any extra bulk.

Facial Features

Toraldur has kind features, pale skin and cornflower blue eyes, but cheekbones and a jawline that are both manly and give an impression of strength, accentuated by his well-groomed beard. His hair is shaved at the sides, saffron red in colour and he tends to wear it tied at the back with the bottommost strands plaited at either side, then tied below his topknot.

Identifying Characteristics

He has a small birthmark about the size of a measure (Absalomian gold coin) on the back of his neck. This cant be seen when his hair is down, but is visible when in his customary tied up style

Physical quirks

Even when relaxed, Toraldur holds himself very upright, making him appear taller than his 6'2" frame would suggest. It almost appears he is permanently standing at attention

Specialized Equipment

Toraldur prefers a 2 handed great axe as his weapon of choice when on guard duty, but also carries a sap, for when chopping folk up doesn't seem prudent.

Employed as a part-time guardsman with the Otari Guard, Toraldur tends to spend his spare time at Wrin's Wonders where he occasionally tends store when Wrin has business elsewhere

Practical and showing good common sense. Can be relied upon to tackle a task, figure out the best way to accomplish it and finish the job. Reliable. Socially he is fairly smart, though doesn't enjoy rowdy behaviour or crowds, preferring 1-to-1 conversation. Eloquent despite coming from what would be considered a common background
