Zami

The sword is magical and every time it gets used in battle it stores mana. Once fully charged the sword becomes unwieldable and must be planted in the ground (think sword in the stone style) wherever the sword is planted the surrounding mana cultivates the land making it fertile and lush. The sword is fused to the ground, unable to be removed until it is depleted of mana, anywhere from 50 - 200 years depending on how the land is tilled. only once the mana is drained from the sword can it be removed to be used in battle and recharged. There's a nomadic village that follows the sword, some stay behind while others go to the new lands. Because they are nomadic they are all the races, ratfolk, catfolk, humans etc. in the current sword village, Cayde sr and jr are living there. Cayde jr befriends a catfolk artisan apprentice that is the same age. years pass and at 20 years old the catfolk masters his craft and travels around the world to collect precious metals and materials. At this same time Cayde leaves the village to adventure. They part ways never to see each other again. unbeknownst to cayde, on the last visit home the catfolk was able to pull the sword from the ground. he takes it with him in his travels and takes on bounties to fund is materials for his fine jewelry. at 22 he finds himself visiting the village were Zami is completing bounties by herself. They fall in love and bounty together, Zami unaware of the blackswords power or significance. For her 25 birthday, her love makes a one-of-a-kind wedding rings. they are are made from shards of the black blade,a smooth band with one arrowhead protruding to mimic one of her claws. zami is away on a solo bounty with plans to return home with him to celebrate, he is alone in is pop up shop that he has set up to sell his wares. on this day late in the afternoon, a mysterious cloaked figure enters silently, not speaking but scoping the table of jewelry. Having met many strange and wonderful people in his travels he is unfazed, pockets the identical rings to assist the figure. The figure is Mythic who is fixated on the rings and asks to purchase them. He refuses, a struggle ensues, Mythic kills him, beheads him and rummages his body for the rings, finding only one before people gather at the shop to check on the commotion. mythic flees. The village is scrambling to secure the crime scene when Zami returns. Upon realizing what happens she frantically struggles to pass the police to see her love, in desperately clinging to his lifeless body she happens upon the wedding ring, which she pockets before the police escort her out. the sword is nowhere to be seen. Zami leaves the village the very next day with nothing but her adventure pack, the ring which she has sown into her outfit (to hide from thieves and to not damage or lose during battle) and a copy of the wanted poster for Mythic. Zami eventually finds her way to the same guild as Cayde, neither having met prior. later in their adventuring, the black blade silently appears besides cayde. The black sword chose cayde based on the bond he had with the catfolk and his current proximity to Zami and her ring. when cayde awakes next to the sword he doesnt recognize it is the sword from the village but has a sense of nostalgia from it. He assumes it was a prank from one of the other adventures and does not mind it, until no one in the guild recognizes the sword. a whole day of non adventuring (one of the days we stay in town) passes and the sword telepathically speaks to him by announcing woe is me. The sword is melancholic and if given the option, would not engage in combat unless it is a threat directly affecting Zami because of her ring. The sword is heartbroken and is pining to be reunited with both Zamis ring and the stolen ring mythic has.
