Session 9: The Crypts Report

General Summary

We began in the crypts, where Ms. E decided to press the matter and disturb more of sarcophogi - prompting three more wights to emerge. After a pitched battle, which saw Ms. E experiencing multiple Energy Drain attacks from the Wights, the party was victorious.   As the battle was breaking back out in the crypts, the rest of the group had begun to investigate the statues outside of the crypts. They were ancient things, depicting two knights wearing armor of masterful workmanship, from a style not seen in centuries. Atalia recognized the stylings of the crest depicted on the armor as one of Thassilonian design, but could not place which house it may have belonged to. This investigation was cut short when they heard Ms E engaged in combat in the next room, and they ran back in to aid her.   Once the battle was over, an exhausted Ms. E lead the party upstairs to seek aid for their "lost mojo". Felio Gallus, the constable, sent for a healer. In the meantime, the party decided to question the stable master, Iulian Bucur.   Iulian described the late doctor as a secretive man, who came from another country far away. He often received foreign visitors, and Iulian would be sent to the docks or the coach offices to fetch them and escort them to the Elbourne Manor. He spoke of Doctor Elbourne and Samirabo as often locking themselves up in their offices, sometimes for days at a time, and that they were often joined by the out-of-town visitors when one was present.   He also spoke of a man who had visited some two months ago; it was notable, because Iulian was not sent to fetch him. He simply appeared one day, coming downstairs to take a meal in the dining room with the Doctor and Samirabo. Afterwards, they returned upstairs to the offices, and the man was not seen again.   Iulian also indicated that these out-of-town visitors usually arrived when Lady Elbourne was out of town, visiting her family in Korvosa.   While the rest of the group was questioning the stable master, Ms. E was visited by a high priest of Desna. He did not give a name, nor was one asked for, but he was a warm and gentle healer. In the end, he reached into Ms. E with the divine light of his goddess, filling their soul with the positive energy and washing away not only their injuries, but some of their inner pain, as well. Touched greatly by this experience, Ms. E gave their full name to the healer, who graciously received their thanks, and invited them to come by the temple - should the services of the Priest or his goddess be needed again.   After this, the entire party re-grouped and received the maid, Gabia Calutio, in one of the other sitting rooms. Gabia describe the late Doctor, his assistant, and their visitors in a similar manner as Iulian had. She also spoke to never being allowed entrance to the offices to clean them, and spoke of a Taldan man (Delphius Manlianus) who had visited nearly a year ago.   When asked about the dolls, Gabia mentioned that Doctor Elbourne had purchased them approximately a week ago, at the Bazaar of Sails. Caernwold observed that this coincided with the disappearance of the cultist known as "the Baron", who had gone missing en-route to visit the late Doctor Elbourne.
