Dragons

At this point in time, dragons are seen as no more than a majestic, but extinct specie, of which any sightings today are likely no more than confusion or attention-seeking.   Dragons were ancient, very powerful magical creatures — resembling a strange mix of reptilian, amphibian, and feline, they collected valuable items and fiercely protected their belongings, having a natural taste for anything arcane.
Some dragons preferred to live amongst humanoids, shapechanging themselves to look like them. It is said, however, that any shapechanged dragon could be identified by their catlike eyes and penchant for anything shiny.   Dragonborn and Kobolds take great pride in being descentands of such a storied race, especially when they are the one of the only apparent remains of such a bloodline (in humanoid form), and are often at odds with each other. Others discover that they have an innate affinity for magic, borne of traces of draconic blood or energy, and can become incredibly powerful sorcerers.

Good & Evil

Chromatic dragons were said to be inherently evil — to want power and wealth for power and wealth’s sake, and would let nothing and no one stand in their way.
Metallic dragons, on the other hand, are said to have been more inherently good. In tales and myths, they are often figures that helped others, and only engaged in mischief instead of vicious acts.

Basic Information

Anatomy

As elusive magical creatures that simply aren’t around anymore, not much is known about their biology and anatomy.
They, like reptiles, have scales and reproduce by laying eggs, but are not considered reptiles. They are simply dragons. Their bodies often resemble felines, especially their posture and eyes, and they are said to have warm blood. They also had wings, and preferred flying to walking.
As predators, dragons had acute senses: incredible vision and perception, ability to see at night, picking up scents easily, and had great hearing. Unlike most other species, however, their senses get better with age, and the older a dragon is, the more powerful they are.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons reproduce naturally with each other by laying eggs, usually a low number — no more than perhaps five at a time.
However, thanks to their shapechanging abilities, they can crossbreed with virtually any other creature, and that creature will have dragon blood within them. More commonly, dragons cross-bred with humans or elves, and sometimes with dwarves. It is believed that this is how both dragonborn and kobolds originated.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dragons are true omnivores, and can eat almost anything — meat, plants, precious gems, metals.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Dragons are thought to be primarily loners, living by themselves or perhaps with a single mate. There were many dragons alive at a time, but together they did not really build any sort of social community with each other. They were not social creatures.

Average Intelligence

Dragons were an incredibly intelligent creatures; some saying their capacities were above even that of gods. They had the ability to create complicated lairs within various caves, and collected valuable things knowing exactly how much they were worth.
As magical creatures, as well, they often gained a lot of arcane power — like wizards. Some of them even became liches, known as dracoliches.
