"What we mortals refer to as 'gods' is as vague a term as it is inconsistent. Some define gods as the beings that made our world, and yet there are mortals that have elevated to the title. Some scholars refer to gods as merely all sufficiently powerful beings; others see gods as those with an enlightened understanding of the world. Most, however, now agree that a god is defined as having some form of dominion over a piece of reality. Note that while gods do differentiate in power, the ones referred to as 'greater' gods here are those that have had a direct role in our world's creation and thus have the most influence and power over our reality, while lesser gods have influenced the formation of the world as we know it after its initial creation. The 'daemon gods' have had no role in creating any part of our world outside of corruption or other changes to already existing factors of reality. This does not mean our gods are 'good' or daemon gods are 'evil.' All gods care for their creation in some form; a god that may seem cruel from the outside may be seen as benevolent by their followers. On that same note, a god that may seem benevolent may be seen as cruel or evil by outsiders." -Eldrin Loraleth, high counselor of the magus imperium
