Spheres of Influence
The Spheres of Influence are believed to be shards of raw magic expelled by The Tear. There are, asofar as anyone knows, 8 spheres -- one that exudes each school of magic.
The Sphere of Divination
Thought to be oracluar in nature, this sphere is theorized to bestow an idividual with a great and powerful prophetic vision. Due to the danger of raw magic, it is suggested that only a Diviner of great capability could interact without severe and possibly lethal consequences.
The Sphere of Illusion
When Nabog the Hollow fist observed this sphere, she cited that it was capable of producing an incredible area of effect that twisted ones mind to see strange and unbelievable visions.

Significance
The Spheres of Influence are believed to be incredibly powerful wellsprings of magic. Since The Tear, large or powerful acts of magic are difficult for even the most powerful of wizards. With the aid of a sphere, magic users are able to produce spell results far beyond the capabilities of The Age of Magic.
