Bavugai Introduction

Bavugai are an intelligent race of large furry bear like humanoids. They have an average height of eight feet two inches, a 80% fat to muscle ratio. Their culture focuses on hunting and honours hunters above all, in their culture battle is often conflated with hunting and so there is no true bavugai military. The thing bavugai are known for is their mercenaries most commonly employed by the Kley, they have very bad relations with the Gorakin.

Civilization and Culture

Gender Ideals

The genders of Bavugai are treated the same, but ideally the females would be hunters and the males would be cooks and trackers. The males are Ofen smaller than the females with the average male height being seven foot 10 inches, the female average hight being eight feet 5 inches.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Most Bavugai speak Kleyik or bavun as the other two Bavugai languages have almost died out. Bavugai commonly speak two languages as bavun is a Rare language, the second language Ofen being kleyik, gra dei, knang or jalnik

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The culture of the Bavugai is largely based on their religion the great hunt. Culturally the highest profession is to be a hunter but the most common profession among the Bavugai is to be a mercenary. In Bavugai culture a Bavugai is a second class citizen until they hunt and kill something bigger than themselves once they have done that they where the skin of it, the skin is called a hunters seal.

History

The bavugai have a short history as culturally they arent supposed to dwell on the past but there are things they did hold on to.

The Great War

The Great War is probably best recorded part of bavugai history. They joined the Great War during the lightning war and where a large part of the brutal war. In this the first and only official bavugai army formed by lord-king bavi then disbanded at the end of the Great War.

Pre Great War

Not much is known about this time but from the kley it’s known that the bavugai were some what primitive before their assimilation with the kley. It’s also known that the kley used bavugai as mercenaries that long ago it is likely that the bavugai never rebelled.

Post Great War

A respectable amount is known about post Great War history. The bavugai were never consumed by the gorakin empire and at the end of the brutal war when the kley and gorakin signed a treaty the bavugai retreated to the mantara isles. Gorakin illegalised bavugai entry into the holy lands.

The great hunt

The great hunt is the religion of the Bavugai, the basis of it is one specific myth. It’s a repeating myth that says that every hundred years a hunter will be born with the name Babava, this hunter will be so great that he or she finds the god beast. The god beast is a sort of demigod that the Bavugai pray will be killed by them or one of their children. The hunter that kills the god beast will aasend to godhead and become the great god babava. Its a little more complex than that as that hunter that kills the god beast, is babava reincarnated, and every hundred years babava is killed by the god beast.
the consequences of this are that almost all Bavugai are called babava so everyone is called by their family name, and bavun the language has a massive amount of tenses to refer to people.

The Bavugai and mozrog

The Bavugai and mozrog hate each other and have for so long that there are many myths among the Bavugai of the origin of the feud. The feud has got that Bavugai the biggest Bavugai organisation other than the hunters guild is the mozrog hunters.

Bavugai citys

The Bavugai have only one great city, it’s the capital city of the Manara isles called vavig. Vavig is architecturally three city with a porous border, originally it was three cities each with around a mile between them. The three cities eventually grew so massive that they intersected over time becoming one city. The Bavugai don’t build towns and cities like other races, Bavugai houses are always detached. Bavugai houses are never stone and thir castles are wood panelled on the inside. Bavugai houses are larger than other races.
