Summary
There was once a man that served has Bane's cleric and upon a difficult task he had to overcome Bane himself gave him a sword to make the task easier to accomplish.
The specific of the task has been lost to history but many speculate it was a fight because a sword was what was given.
Historical Basis
There was records of the church of Bane passing said sword from pope to pope for a few century before the sword got lost while in transit via sea fairing vessel.
